Crossing the Valley Migrant Interview with Beveryly

I have known Beveryly's daughter for a few years now but have never met Baveryly herself. The meeting was arranged by her daughter. I was a bit apprehensive about the interview because I was told that Beveryly didn't think her story was all that extraordinary or important and I was worried that I would not be able to get the information I need for the assignment. When I met her she appeared to be a sweet Vietnamese lady in here mid to late forties. What I didn't expect was her enthusiasm and energy for what I was doing. We sat at her dinning room table and talked about her experiences as a young girl, leaving Vietnam and finally ending up in Arizona. While not labeled as a refugee, her family was displaced because of the climate in Vietnam after American forces pulled out of the country. She currently resides in the west valley with her son and daughter and is an owner of a nail salon. The following page contains a first person narrative of her journey From Phan Thiet, Vietnam to America in which she was exposed to a country she calls her own.
